February 3 @ 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Hard Driving, Electrifying, Rock’n Blues
Rosie’s Smokehouse Deluxe is the dreamchild of bassist David G. Rose, (‘Rosie’). Hailing from Detroit, David honed his unique style, playing throughout the US & Canada, performing and recording with some of the best including Champion featuring Alex Machin of A Foot In Cold Water, David Wilcox, Stu Heydon & The Stu Heydon Blues Band and Marc Cooper & Blue Steel. After over four decades of working as a side man, David has stepped into the spotlight with his brand new band and is really looking forward to the road ahead. Joining him on this journey are Gabor Szepesi on Keyboard, Tony Moretta on guitar and backing vocals and Terry Martell on drums.
Gabor Szepesi, keyboards
Gabor has made music his priority for the last 40 years. He started playing in bands in 1968 and spent the summer of 1972 playing in the house band at the Dardanella in Wasaga Beach. He went on to play with dozens of great local bands including Bloodstone, Justin Paige, Lenny Solomon, Grant Smith, Sweet Blindness, Wayne Buttery & the Groove Project and dozens more. As well as being a musician, Gabor also was the founder and president of PA+, a provider of world class audio services. They quickly became the preferred supplier for Toronto’s top live venues including Massey Hall, Roy Thompson Hall, The Sony Centre & Harbourfront. PA+ had house sound systems in The Jarvis House, Lee’s Palace, The Diamond Club, Rock N’ Roll Heaven, RPM & The Warehouse. In 2015 Gabor settled in Wasaga Beach and was asked to consult on the production RFP’s for the Stonebridge Wasaga Beach Blues Festival, working with Wayne Buttery to coordinate festival logistics. In 2021, after Wayne’s passing, Gabor accepted the offer of taking on the role of “Artistic Director” for the Wasaga Beach Blues Festival. Regarded as one of the most sought after and soulful B3 players around, Gabor’s keyboards add an unbelievably tasteful dimension to Rosie’s Smokehouse Deluxe.
Terry Martell – Drums
In the 70’s and 80’s Montreal’s music scene was hot, influential, and shaped the Jazz and Disco era. Terry Martell developed his notable style in Montreal and his career was propelled by backing such pop artists as Aldo Nova on the top ten hit record “Life is Just a Fantasy”, Juno award Winner-Best New Male Vocalist Walter Rossi on “Six Strings Nine Lives” and Gino Soccioon “Outline”. Throughout the 80’s, 90’s and into the year 2000 Terry’s live Funk, Rock, and Pop performances could be seen throughout North America. His live stage appearances were complimented by a long list of recording successes with stars like, Busta Jones and Jerry Harrison from the “Talking Heads”, Capital Record artist Sherry Kean “People Talk”, Beyond Seven with Gord Deppe from the “Spoons” and the Academy Award Nominated Film Hardwood. Touring with The Knockouts Terry backed up Bo Diddely, Leslie Gore, Lou Christie, Little Anthony, Peter Noone, and Gary Lewis to name a few. Never skipping a beat Terry continues his success recording for various artists, performing live and brings his years of experience and incredibly unique style to Rosie’s Smokehouse Deluxe.
Tony Moretta – Guitar & Backing Vocals
Tony started playing guitar at eleven years of age. Like most children of that era, his first major influence was The Beatles. This progressed into musical lessons provided by Jimi Hendrix, Santana and Deep Purple to name a few. Tony began performing in Toronto nightclubs at the age of sixteen. His first recording experience was at Toronto Sound in 1974 where he recorded a three track demo with a 7 piece “Chicago type” rock horn band called Truth. Through the 70’s and 80’s he performed extensively throughout Canada playing such venues as Maple Leaf Gardens, Ontario Place Forum and Roy Thompson Hall. Session work continued in the 80’s where he was privileged to have contributed to Gold albums with Frozen Ghost and Helix as well as recordings with many other Canadian and International artists. A recent addition to the band “Rosies Smokehouse Deluxe”, he is excited about going back to his roots of blues rock and recording and performing with them.
